How to Reach Edinburgh

By Plane

By Train

Edinburgh Waverley Station is in the city centre and trains run regularly from London and other British cities. Journey time from London is about 5 hours. See also the National Rail Network. 

By Bus

National Express, Megabus and SilverchoiceTravel operate buses from most British cities to Edinburgh. Journey time from London is about 9 hours. You arrive at St Andrew's Bus Station in the centre of Edinburgh. For timetables, see the websites of the operators.

From Edinburgh Airport to the City Centre

Once you arrive at Edinburgh Airport, there are several possibilities to get to the city centre:

Airport Pickup by inlingua Edinburgh

We can organise a private airport transfer for you. One of our colleagues will wait at the gate for you and take you directly to your accommodation. The journey lasts about 25-30 minutes and costs 50 GBP per person.

By Bus

There are direct shuttle buses to the city-centre by AIRLINK. They run every 10 minutes and journey time is 30 minutes. A single ticket is 4. GBP and a return 7 GBP (valid for one month, as per January 2014).

Lothian buses run one line from the city centre to Edinburgh Airport. Journey time is about 45 minutes and a single ticket costs 1.50 GBP. Check the Lothian Buses website for more information.

By Taxi

A taxi from Edinburgh Airport to the city centre costs about 15-20 GBP. There are several information desks at the airport to help you book a taxi.
