Online English Test - How Well do you Speak English?

At inlingua, we have developed an online language test to help students measure their language proficiency level and allow us to advise on the best course for their needs.

Online Placement Test

Before arriving in Edinburgh, we recommend that our students do a self-evaluation via our free online placement test. We will then get an idea of your level of English. The test is quick and easy to navigate and will only take 20-30 minutes at the most. The test adapts to your level and it will get more and more difficult for you!

The test is also available for those interested in learning French, German, Italian and Spanish.

How it Works

There will be a series of 22 questions with dropdown options for you to choose from or gaps to fill in with your knowledge of grammar of your selected language. At the end of your test, you will receive a summary with your recommended level and a chance to read more about your level from our table. You can also access our website and find out further information about our centre and courses on offer.

For inlingua Edinburgh Students

On the first day of your language course, a teacher will evaluate precisely your proficiency level with a speaking test so that we can find the most suitable group for your English course. This is your opportunity to have a private consultation with one of our teachers and discuss your language needs. This is an important step to making your language course the best it can be!

Booking Consultation via Skype

We have also started assessing our students via Skype at the point of booking to ensure that students enroll in the right course at the right level. This provides an opportunity to consult with one of our teachers and make sure you, the client, and we, the business, pass the test!
