Hi,

I’m Anna from Germany. I'm 20 years old and I just finished school in Germany. I came here to Scotland because I have to do a six month internship as part of my schooling and there was the possibility of receiving a Leonardo da Vinci scholarship to help me to do this.

This was my chance to leave Germany for half a year and discover something new abroad. However, the main reason why I came to Scotland is the language. I'll be able to improve my English as I have to speak it all the time. Additionally I will be participating in the Evening Preparation Course for sitting the Cambridge exam in December.

The first two weeks, before I started to work, I took part in the half day intensive English language course at Inlingua. There was a maximum of 8 people in my group meaning that I could learn quicker as there were few students.

For the first two weeks I did not know where my work placement would be, but then I discovered that I would be staying here at Inlingua as an intern. I’m working on the reception as well as in the marketing department.

In my free time I try to go out as much as I can to discover Scotland.

Scotland has so many diverse activities on offer. The nightlife is very busy even during the week, so I try to take advantage of that.

There is also a lot to do in the daytime such as, visiting the big range of museums, churches, castles or going to the cinema and much more.

You really get to know people here quickly as they are really open minded and friendly. When you speak to someone it is really useful as you can practise all that you’ve studied in school.
