Over the past few months, it has become progressively difficult for people to travel and partake in many activities due to government guidelines on social distancing. Thankfully, however, we have come up with a list of things you can still do in case you were looking forwards to experiencing Edinburgh!
- Most art galleries are either open or re-opening soon. We actively encourage visits to the National Scottish Gallery as well as the Modern Art Gallery, both of which are incredibly interesting, and of course, it helps that they are also free.
- Discovering the outdoors is allowed as well, and Edinburgh’s scenery has much to offer! A walk around the unique Dean Village, or along the Water of Leith, up Calton Hill, or even going for a run around Arthur’s Seat would be great to stretch your legs, and if you are feeling particularly fit you can even climb up Arthur’s Seat, the views from up there are indeed something else; just be sure to dress appropriately as the weather conditions can change quite often whilst hiking in Scotland (and Edinburgh can be fairly windy).
- If the pubs and restaurants are still shut when you read through these few words, we would suggest choosing a nice café to relax whilst sipping on a coffee, maybe eat a biscuit and start a new book, many of those local and comfy settings can be found around the city.
What was that? The weather is being capricious or downright unpredictable today?
- You can still enjoy a nice movie in one of the many cinemas! If you prefer sweet popcorn over salty, we promise we won’t judge you too harshly.
